Guide-to-London.net is an English-language travel guide to London for international visitors. We write for people planning their first trip, for those coming back to see more, and for anyone who wants clear, practical answers before they spend money in one of the most expensive cities in Europe.
Why this site exists
London is one of the most visited cities in the world, and there is no shortage of information about it. The problem is the quality. Much of what turns up in a search is out of date, copied from another site, or written to sell a ticket rather than to answer a question. Fares change every spring, museums close for renovation, entry rules for visitors have changed several times in recent years, and a tip that was true five years ago can cost you time and money today.
Guide-to-London.net has been online for many years. It started as a short guide to the best-known sights, and we have now rebuilt it from the ground up as a much larger reference: hundreds of detailed guides that take you from "which area should we stay in" to "which Tube line goes to Heathrow and what will it cost" without leaving the site.
We write for readers from all over the world, many of whom use English as a second language. That is why we explain things plainly first and go into detail afterwards, avoid local slang, and spell out the things Londoners take for granted, from how pay as you go works to why the shops close early on Sundays.
What we cover
The whole city and the most popular trips out of it: the major attractions, museums and galleries, neighbourhoods, getting around, the six London airports, food and drink, shopping, where to stay, events month by month and day trips. The planning section covers the practical side: entry requirements, money, healthcare, safety and itineraries.
How we work
We base our guides on the organisations that actually set the rules and the prices: Transport for London, the UK government, the NHS, the Metropolitan Police and the attractions themselves. We do not copy other travel guides. Mistakes spread quickly between websites that rewrite each other, and we do not want to add to that.
We give concrete prices, fares and opening times where they help, rather than hiding behind "around" and "about". The price of that approach is maintenance. Every such detail is recorded with its source and the date it was checked, and we review them regularly, especially after the annual fare changes and the start of each season. Each guide shows when it was last updated. If you find something that has changed, please tell us.

Advertising
The site is funded by advertising from Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence on what we write, and we do not sell reviews, links or placements. We have no commission agreements with hotels, tour operators or booking sites, so when we mention a restaurant, a hotel area or a tour company, it is because we think it is useful for the reader, not because we earn anything from it. Photos
Most of our photos come from Unsplash, with some from Wikimedia Commons, Pexels and Pixabay, all used under their respective licences. Every photographer is listed on our image credits page, and where the licence requires it, the full credit also appears directly beneath the photo. Every image is checked by eye against the page it illustrates. A photo of the wrong bridge or the wrong palace is a factual error, not just a cosmetic one.

No. Guide-to-London.net is an editorial website with no connection to the Greater London Authority, Transport for London, VisitBritain or any other public body. We rely on official sources and link to them, but we do not speak on their behalf. What that means in practice is explained in our disclaimer.
Do you earn money if I book something through the site?
No. We have no affiliate or commission agreements, and the links in our guides do not earn us anything. The site is funded by the advertising you see on the pages, which is placed by Google and kept separate from our editorial content.
Can I get my business or attraction featured?
You are welcome to send us information, and good tips are read and considered. But nobody can pay to be included in a guide, and we never promise coverage. See our contact page.
