Editorial Policy

This page explains how Guide-to-London.net is written and maintained: where our information comes from, how we deal with prices and details that change, how we keep advertising separate from content, and how we correct mistakes.

Who is responsible

The site is published by Nordic Webinvest Ltd. The editor responsible for all content is Terje Moy. Our guides are written and checked by the editorial team under the editor's responsibility, and every guide shows the date it was last updated.

Sources come first

For every factual claim we go to the organisation that controls it:

We do not use other travel guides, forums or social media as sources for facts. Each guide ends with a list of the main sources we used, with the month they were checked.

Prices, fares and opening times

We give concrete figures where they help you plan, because "it is quite expensive" does not help anyone set a budget. Every figure is recorded internally with its source and the date it was checked. Transport fares in London usually change in March, many attractions change prices in spring, and opening hours change with the seasons, so we review these details regularly and after known change dates.

Even so, prices and times can change without notice. That is why our guides link to the official page where you can check the current figure, and why we write "from £X" when prices vary by date, time or booking method. Always check before you travel.

When something is uncertain

If we cannot confirm a detail from a reliable source, we leave it out or say that it is uncertain. We would rather tell you where to check than print a figure we are not sure of. We never invent statistics, quotes, reviews or personal experiences.

Health, entry rules and money

Some of our guides deal with topics where a mistake can have real consequences: entry requirements, customs allowances, healthcare costs, safety and money. For these topics we describe what the official sources say, link to them directly and avoid giving personal advice. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal or financial advice, and the rules are set by the authorities, not by us. See also our disclaimer.

Advertising and independence of content

The site shows advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are placed automatically by Google and are clearly separate from our editorial content. Advertisers have no say in what we write. We do not accept payment for reviews, mentions or links, we have no affiliate agreements, and we do not publish sponsored content. If that ever changes, sponsored content will be clearly labelled.

Images

We use photos under licences that allow it: mainly Unsplash, and in some cases Wikimedia Commons, Pexels and Pixabay. Photographer, licence and source are recorded automatically from the source when a photo is added, never typed in by hand, and every photo is listed on our image credits page. Photos under Creative Commons licences that require attribution are also credited in full directly beneath the image. We check every photo by eye to make sure it actually shows what the page is about. Photos are resized and cropped, but never retouched to change what they show.

Links

We link to official sources so you can check the details yourself, and between our own guides where a related topic helps you further. Occasionally we link to a sister site run by the same publisher when it covers something in more depth. We do not sell links.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, write to info@guide-to-london.net. We check every report against the source and correct errors as quickly as we can. Significant corrections are reflected in the "Updated" date at the top of the guide. We are grateful for every correction: readers who tell us when something has changed are the best help we have.
