A stadium tour takes you behind the scenes at a famous ground on a non-match day: into the dressing rooms, down the players' tunnel and out to the pitch side. In London the main choices are Wembley (£28 for an adult), Arsenal's Emirates Stadium (from £34), Chelsea's Stamford Bridge (£34 booked ahead), Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (from £23), Lord's cricket ground (£32.95) and Twickenham, the home of England rugby.
For many football fans a tour is the realistic way to get inside a Premier League stadium, because match tickets for London's Premier League clubs are so hard to buy. Tours run most days of the year, you can book them online a few days or weeks ahead, and they suit children as well as adults. You do not need to be a fan of the club: the tours explain the history and the working of a modern stadium in a way most visitors enjoy.
This guide compares the tours, gives the September 2026 prices published by each venue, and explains what you actually see. Prices change, and tours are cancelled or shortened around matches and concerts, so check the official booking page for your date.

Wembley Stadium: the national stadium
Wembley is England's national football stadium, and its arch is visible across north-west London. It hosts England matches, the FA Cup final and major concerts. The guided tour lasts about 90 minutes, and the tour company recommends allowing two hours in total, because you start by exploring the first two sections at your own pace before a guide takes your group into the more secure areas.
An adult ticket costs £28.00. You can buy on the day at the stadium, but pre-booking is "strongly recommended" because it guarantees your place and gives a discounted rate; tours can reach capacity. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your time slot. The tour entrance is on Level 1, next to the Bobby Moore statue.
Wembley Park station, on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, is about eight minutes' walk away, and so is Wembley Stadium station on Chiltern Railways from Marylebone. Wembley is a working venue, so some parts of the route can be closed at short notice.
Wembley has no cloakroom for tour visitors. Large bags and suitcases are not allowed inside, every bag is searched, and you must keep your belongings with you throughout. If you are on your way to or from an airport, drop your luggage first; our guide to left luggage in London lists the options.

Emirates Stadium: Arsenal's home
Arsenal's standard tour is self-guided. You get a handset that plays the commentary in seven languages, including British Sign Language, and you walk the route at your own pace. The stops include the directors' box, the players' entrance, the home and away dressing rooms, the tunnel, the pitch side and home dugout, and the press conference room. Entry to the Arsenal Museum is included, and there is an optional souvenir photo at extra cost.
Adult tickets are "from £34", and Arsenal members get 10% off. The club also sells guided tours: a Legend Tour with a former player (£55 for an adult), a matchday tour (adults from £20) and a VIP experience (£425). All are booked through the club's official tours page. Arsenal station on the Piccadilly line is the closest, and Holloway Road and Highbury & Islington are also within walking distance.
Stamford Bridge: Chelsea
Chelsea's Stadium Tour and Museum ticket combines a look behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge with a visit to the club museum. Chelsea publishes two prices: pre-booked, and walk-up on the day. Booking ahead saves £4 per adult, and more for a family.
| Stadium Tour and Museum | Pre-booked | Walk-up |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | £34.00 | £38.00 |
| Concession (65+) or student | £29.00 | £33.00 |
| Child (5-15) | £24.00 | £28.00 |
| Family (2 adults and 2 children) | £99.00 | £115.00 |
| Under 5 | Free | Free |
Chelsea also sells a Classic Tour (£49 for an adult) and a Legends Tour with Kerry Dixon (£95). Stamford Bridge is on Fulham Road, a few minutes from Fulham Broadway station on the District line. The area is pleasant to explore afterwards; our guide to the Chelsea neighbourhood suggests where to walk.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Dare Skywalk
Tottenham's stadium opened in 2019 and is one of the newest in London. It was also designed for American football: the club says it is the only stadium in Europe purpose-built for the NFL, which plays games there. The club says its South Stand, with 17,500 seats, is the largest single-tier stand in the UK. The tour goes behind the scenes, and there are separate VIP, Legend, matchday and technical tours.
Prices start "from £23" for an adult, advance bookings save 15%, and "kids go free with a paying adult". The full adult price depends on the date and was not published on the main page when we checked, so confirm it on the booking screen. The stadium also runs the Dare Skywalk, a walk over the roof with views of the London skyline, and an F1 driving attraction, all bookable on the stadium's website.
White Hart Lane station on the Overground's Weaver line (from Liverpool Street) is closest. Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale on the Victoria line are a longer walk or a short bus ride away.
Free child places make Tottenham good value for families. Because children go free with a paying adult, two adults and two children can pay less than a family ticket costs elsewhere. Book in advance to get the 15% discount on top.
Lord's: the home of cricket
You do not need to understand cricket to enjoy a tour of Lord's, the ground of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in St John's Wood. The 100-minute guided tour visits the Victorian Pavilion and its Long Room, the players' dressing rooms, the modern media centre and the MCC Museum, which holds the Ashes urn, which MCC calls cricket's best-known artefact.
An adult ticket costs £32.95, seniors and students pay £26.95, children £22.95, and under-5s go free. A family of two adults and two children pays £111.80. The Lord's Tour Plus (from £57.95, age 12 and over, maximum 14 people) lasts 110 to 120 minutes and adds more behind-the-scenes areas. St John's Wood station on the Jubilee line is about ten minutes' walk away.
Tours may not run on major match days, when the ground is busy. If you would like to see a game as well, our guide to watching cricket at Lord's and The Oval explains formats and tickets.
The Kia Oval, Twickenham and Wimbledon
The Kia Oval in Kennington, home of Surrey County Cricket Club, runs ground tours on non-match days that include the Long Room, the Committee Room, the media and broadcast suites, the club museum and the views over London from the top of the stands. On some county match days it runs a "match-day ground tour" that includes a ticket to stay and watch the cricket. Prices are shown on the Kia Oval tours site.
Allianz Stadium Twickenham, in south-west London, is the home of England rugby union. It offers stadium tours and has the World Rugby Museum on site. We could not confirm current tour prices and times from the official website, so check them at allianzstadiumtwickenham.com before you travel. Twickenham station is served by trains from Waterloo, and the area makes a good combination with riverside Richmond.
Wimbledon has the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and runs chaperoned tours of the grounds. Both need a ticket from wimbledon.com, and the programme changes around The Championships. To see the tennis itself, read our guide to Wimbledon tickets and the Queue.
More football grounds: London Stadium and Craven Cottage
The London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was built for the 2012 Olympics and is now home to West Ham United. Its guided tour lasts 60 to 75 minutes and costs £22 for an adult online in advance, or £24 on the day. Weekday tours usually leave at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00, and weekend tours run hourly from 10:00 to 15:00. Our London Stadium guide has the details, and it is easy to combine with a ride down the Helix slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit next door.
Fulham also runs tours of Craven Cottage, its historic ground beside the Thames. Pricing and availability are on the Fulham FC tours page. It is a smaller, older ground and a good contrast to the new stadiums.
Which tour should you choose?
Best choices for most visitors
- Wembley, if you want the biggest stage in English football and a guided group tour
- Emirates, if you prefer to move at your own pace with an audio guide in your language
- Tottenham, for families on a budget and for the roof walk
- Lord's, for history and architecture, even if you have never watched cricket
Things that can spoil the day
- Booking on a match or event day, when tours are cut or cancelled
- Arriving late: most tours leave at fixed times
- Bringing large bags, which several venues refuse
- Paying walk-up prices when booking ahead is cheaper
If you support a particular club, the choice is made for you. If not, think about location. Stamford Bridge and Lord's are closest to central hotels. Wembley, Tottenham and the London Stadium are further out, so plan on most of a morning or an afternoon. Our guide to London's travel zones explains how fares change as you travel further from the centre.
Booking tips and saving money
Book on the venue's own tour website, which is linked from the club's official site. Several venues charge more on the day, and popular slots at weekends and in school holidays sell out. Check the calendar for home matches, concerts and other events before you pick a date, because tours on or around those days are usually cancelled or run a shorter route.
If you are thinking of buying a sightseeing pass, check whether the tour you want is included. Whether a pass saves money depends on how many attractions you will really visit; our analysis of whether the London Pass is worth it explains how to calculate this. For more ideas with children, see our London with kids guide. Tours are mostly indoors, so they also work as a plan for a rainy day in London.
Frequently asked questions
Which London stadium tour is the best?
It depends on what you want. Wembley is the national stadium and has the best-known guided tour. The Emirates offers a self-guided tour with commentary in seven languages. Tottenham's is the newest stadium and the cheapest for families, and Lord's is the best choice for history.
How much does the Wembley Stadium tour cost?
An adult ticket costs £28.00 (September 2026). Booking in advance gives a discounted rate and guarantees your time slot, while on-the-day tickets depend on availability. The tour lasts about 90 minutes, and the venue suggests allowing two hours.
Can you do stadium tours on match days?
Usually not on the day of a match or concert, or the route is shortened. Some clubs sell special matchday tours before the game, such as Arsenal's matchday tour and The Kia Oval's match-day ground tour. Check the booking calendar before planning your day.
Are stadium tours suitable for children?
Yes. Most children enjoy the dressing rooms and the pitch side. Tottenham lets children go free with a paying adult, and Chelsea sells a family ticket for two adults and two children at £99.00 booked ahead. Under-5s are free at Chelsea and Lord's.
Do I need to book a stadium tour in advance?
It is strongly recommended. Several venues charge more on the day, tours run at fixed times with limited places, and weekends and school holidays fill up first. Booking ahead also lets you check that no match or event is taking place.
